TMS UK Ltd were set up in 2019 specifically to support the maintenance contract for the British Airways Ground Support Equipment (GSE) fleet in the UK. TMS UK Ltd are part of the TCR Group who are an internationally recognised GSE solution and services provider.

“The TCR Group provides full ground support services to many customers around the world and we have a presence in most airport locations. These services consist of maintenance, fuelling and rental of all ground support equipment, our goal is to provide seamless added value services that gives our Customers a One- Stop solution for all of their GSE needs.”

– Jamie Gray, Operations Manager

One of these added value services is the provision of a dedicated heavy and light airside recovery team that is utilised for collection and delivery, breakdown and emergency recoveries of vehicles interrupting Aircraft Ground Movements.
Jamie continues: “We have a bespoke recovery department dedicated to the airport community that is managed and operated through our TMS UK ltd business on a 24/7, 365 days per year basis. We currently operate four bespoke recovery vehicles at Heathrow Airport to support our customers along with ten service/response vans.”

One thing you can guarantee at the airport is that every day will bring new challenges due to the vast amount of specialist equipment that TMS are responsible for, everything from a pallet truck to a 70 ton Aircraft pushback tractor.

“Our recovery team all have many years of airport and recovery experience. I myself have over 18 years at Heathrow and first started undertaking heavy recoveries in 2013. I am now the Operations Manager for TMS overseeing our landside workshop and the recovery team and still regularly take out the heavy recovery truck to help when required. I like to keep up to date with the equipment we move so I can assist and advise my team if needed.”

The heavy recovery work that we undertake is mostly done using lifting forks and chains and over the years our specialist recovery operators have come up with some great ways to lift and secure casualty ground support equipment. We also work very closely with Tim Hughes Training Services (THTS) for all of our IVR training as Tim has a great knowledge of the airport equipment so in addition to the full IVR courses we can tailor the training to our fleets and requirements. We have been linked in with Tim now for many years and he is always happy to help and advise when we need it.
